Learn About Boat Slip Proposal Want more information on the Clearwater's downtown boat slip proposal? Here are two options offered by city officials: An eight-minute video on the project and its finances can be viewed online at www.myclearwater.com/boatslips. The video also will air regularly on Clearwater's cable television channel, C-VIEW 15. Clearwater officials also will make presentations to community groups in advance of the March 13 referendum on the proposal. Groups interested in requesting a presentation can visit www.myclearwater.com/boatslips or call (727) 562-4682. Artist to discuss her inspiration Artist and author Elizabeth Indianos will present a multimedia overview of the inspiration driving her art and writings from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Tarpon Springs Library, 138 E Lemon St. She will discuss the creative process across mediums, examining how they interact with and affect the final result. Indianos is an instructor in the Fine Arts Department at St. Petersburg College on the Tarpon Springs campus. Her public art projects include the Gainesville Solar Walk, Tampa's Southern Transportation Plaza and Marion Transit Plaza, and monumental work at Tampa International Airport. Refreshments will be served. Call (727) 944-3042. Right landscape can save water About 30 percent of drinking water in Pinellas County is used to irrigate plants, county officials estimate. Overwatering turf grass, according to Utilities Director Pick Talley, weakens the root structure, leaving it more susceptible to insects and disease. And the runoff from landscape carries pollutants to our water sources. With the right Florida-friendly plants in the right spot, you can greatly reduce watering, fertilizing and maintenance in your yard, and wildlife will find a home. Doris Heitzmann of the Pinellas County Extension will show you how to design a Florida-friendly landscape from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Road. The free workshop is recommended for adults. Registration is required. Call (727) 453-6800. YMCA office to move to church The North Beaches YMCA is moving its office to Calvary Episcopal Church, 1615 First St., effective Thursday. With several programs already operating from the church facility, and an increase in available parking, the move seemed to both the YMCA and church officials to be a natural fit. Call the North Beaches YMCA for information at 595-5610.
