SEFFNER: A request for townhouses heads back to a zoning hearing master Monday.
James and Suzanne Akers want to rezone 4 acres east of Taylor Road, between Old Hillsborough Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, from residential to a planned development.
The County Commission in December sent the application back to the zoning hearing master for revisions. A previous zoning hearing master had recommended against the request, saying that 38 townhouses would exceed county standards of six units per acre.
The developer has since reduced the request to 34 townhouses. The case returns to the County Commission on April 10. Petition 06-1801
SEFFNER: The Planning Commission has reversed an earlier assessment and now endorses a request by property owners Kenneth and Peggy Barber. The developers want to rezone 6 acres southwest of Williams Road and Interstate 4 from agricultural to planned development.
A&A Complete Paving and Maintenance plans to build a contracting office and two professional office buildings accessible from Williams Road.
The Planning Commission, which in December rejected the plan based on incomplete documentation, has since ruled that the request is consistent with surrounding development.
The case goes to a zoning hearing master Monday and to the County Commission on April 10. Petition 06-1115
THONOTOSASSA: Progressive Engineering is seeking to modify its site plan for 8 acres southwest of U.S. 301 and Williams Road to allow for more square footage and open storage.
The original development was for a single building for property owner Builder's Hardware. After running into permitting and cost problems, the company instead decided to buy an existing building, according to a report by the Genesis Group.
The request goes to a zoning hearing master Monday. The County Commission will hear the request on April 10. Petition 07-0098.
