Eagles feeling no shame in defeat
Springstead team happy with their season.

ORLANDO - The final margin of defeat was three goals, and if a senior goalkeeper named Jason Bowie hadn't spent the first half flinging his body in front of every ball that came his way, it very well could have been nine . But as Sal Calabrese stood on the sideline at Bishop Moore following a 4-1 loss to the Hornets, he said he was not disappointed in his team, nor the season.
"Everybody else was home, and we were still playing," the Springstead coach said. "I'm very pleased with my guys."
Despite facing a bigger, stronger, more physical team, the Eagles entered the half down just 1-0. Bowie, who finished with 15 saves, frustrated the Hornets throughout the first half, stealing several sure-goals.
"It's 6-0 at the half without his play," Calabrese said.
Springstead tied it eight minutes into the second half on a goal by Preston Shutts, but Bishop Moore's Andrew Savage answered 12 minutes later to put the Hornets back up.
The Eagles failed to capitalize on a couple of scoring opportunities, and Savage iced the game with 13:30 remaining. He completed the hat trick with 4:27 left.
