FAMU explorers advisory board to meet tonight

The Florida A&M University Black Males College Explorers Program advisory board will meet at 7 tonight in Room 348 of Citrus High School, 600 Highland Blvd. Those interested in becoming a board member, supporting the cause or students wishing to participate in the program are invited to attend. Judge's investiture ceremony Friday

The investiture ceremony for new Circuit Judge Daniel B. Merritt Jr. will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the historical courtroom on the third floor of the old Hernando County Courthouse, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. For information, call 754-4402. Merritt will serve in Hernando and Citrus counties.

Rotary clubs hold radio, TV auction

The five Rotary Clubs of Citrus County will hold their second annual Radio and TV Auction on Feb. 10 to raise money for the Rotary Clubs' community service projects. The auction will be broadcast simultaneously on WYKE-TV Ch. 47 (Ch. 16 on cable) and on WRGO-FM 102.7 from 1 to 5 p.m. Bidders will call 795-4919 to place their bids within the prescribed times. Several thousand dollars' worth of goods and services will be available to the highest bidder. The St. Petersburg Times will publish a complete listing of the items up for bid on Friday and Saturday.

Voters asked to review registration

The elections office will mail address correction cards to all registered voters who have not voted in the past two general elections and who did not request that their records be updated during that time. Those who receive a card will be asked to verify the information, make corrections if needed and return the prepaid postcard. If you receive a card in error, you are asked to return the card to the elections office. For information or to make an address change by phone, called the elections office at 341-6740

Annual passes to parks now on sale

Annual parking passes for Pine Island Park and Rogers Park are now available. The $40 passes are available at the Hernando County Tax Collector's Westside Office, 7489 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, and the Hernando County Parks Department, Room 260, Hernando County Government Center, 20 N Main St., Brooksville. The Parks Department will begin charging the annual peak season $2 parking fee at Pine Island between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily Feb. 18 through Nov. 14. Rogers Park in Weeki Wachee will begin charging the fee in late March or early April, and will continue through mid September.
