MARIANNA - Hundreds of Florida's law enforcement officers filled a local church Saturday to remember a sheriff's wife who was gunned down in her driveway. Services were held at the Christian Center Church for 51-year-old Mellie McDaniel, the wife of Jackson County Sheriff John McDaniel. She was slain Tuesday by two men who had followed her home and were later killed in a shootout with her husband and deputies. Lionel Sands, 60, and Daniel Brown, 54, scoped out the McDaniel home and shot Mellie McDaniel as she arrived home. They also killed Deputy Harold Michael Altman as he responded to her distress call, authorities said. 49/66 (0.0) 43/63 (0.03) 49/68 (0.1) 48/68 (0.0) 48/70 (tr) 49/67 (0.02) 61/72 (0.04) 50/64 (0.07) 51/65 (0.0) 50/65 (0.0) 50/63 (0.0) Beverly Hills | 42 | 63 | 0.00 | | Brooksville | 46 | 59 | 0.00 | | Crystal River | 45 | 56 | 0.00 | | Dunedin | 48 | 66 | 0.05 | | Floral City | 43 | 63 | 0.00 | | Hernando Beach | 46 | 64 | 0.03 | | Indian Rocks Bch | 50 | 70 | 0.00 | | Inverness | 44 | 58 | 0.00 | | Pinellas Park | 52 | 64 | 0.00 | | South Pasadena | 72 | 53 | 0.00 | | Spring Hill | 43 | 63 | 0.04 | | St. Pete Beach | 52 | 66 | 0.00 | | Tyrone | 52 | 66 | 0.00 | Complete weather forecast, 2A
