WESLEY CHAPEL

A man was arrested and accused of driving under the influence Sunday night after a collision at State Road 54 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Charles Francois Bauer, 40, of Wesley Chapel faces a charge of DUI with personal injury. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, his 2003 Isuzu pickup rear-ended another pickup about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. When a trooper arrived, Bauer was unsteady on his feet, smelled of alcohol and slurred his words, according to a report. Two breath tests yielded blood-alcohol readings of 0.132 and 0.138.

Florida law presumes impairment at 0.08. The occupants in the other pickup, Gregory Crawford, 24, and Kara Crawford, 23, both of 7643 Stoney Hill Drive, Wesley Chapel, were not injured.

Bauer, who has a Wesley Chapel address and who reports say was born in France, was released Monday from the county jail in Land O'Lakes after posting $500 bail.

Armed couple hold 3 in fruitless invasion

A man and a woman held three people at gunpoint inside a Lanier Road mobile home early Monday and demanded money, authorities said. The invasion ended with no injuries.

The Sheriff's Office said the couple entered through the front door. The man pointed a gun at one of the people inside and followed him through the home with a gun while demanding money.

The woman intruder followed behind. After a few minutes, they left without any money or property, fleeing toward Chancey Road in a car. No detailed descriptions were available, and no arrests had been made Monday.
