The Wednesday Night Men's League at Neffer's Bowl dominated the leader scores last week on the strength of five 700 series. The league had five of the six reported 700s in the county. Leading the way was the 728 pin total of Neffer's general manager and Wednesday Night regular Steve McCullough. His 257 game was just outside the top five in the scratch game category, but his scratch series was the highest of the week. Another major milestone out of that league came from longtime bowler James Conley. With a 191 average, it is hard to believe Conley's 704 this past week was the first 700 of his career. After shooting a 244 to start off his three-game set, he followed with 215 and 245. The other 700s that night came from Dutch Sweigert (723), Joey Monday (712) and Mike Buchanan (700). Buchanan tied two others for the highest scratch game by tossing 269. Ken Flanders, another regular in the Wednesday Night Men's League, also threw a 269 that night. Stephen Liik, who bowls in the First Nighter's League at Sportsmen's Bowl in Inverness, was the other competitor to break the 700 barrier last week when he totaled a 703 there. Dan Davidson in the Monday Night Turnovers League at Manatee Lanes in Crystal River also tied for the county lead with his 269 high game. PARKVIEW NEWS: Parkview Lanes in Holder has multiple events upcoming and held another this past weekend. The Parkview League Bowlers Bingo Roll-Off featured 24 regulars from the center with Mona Rosado, Chuck Clouse and Ted Rafanan each winning their divisions and walking away with a prize of $50. Marilyn Seymour, Jim Randle and Chuck Eyerly all took second in those same divisions to earn $30. The center will hold this month's installment of the Rizzo's Pizza Rock N' Bowl Tournament on Feb. 18 with a $45 entry fee. The deadline for entries is Wednesday. The action kicks off with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Twisted Oaks Country Club. There will be an 18-hole scramble there before the four-person teams move to Parkview to conclude the competition. The second annual Greater Citrus U.S. Bowling Association Women's Tournament also will hold its team competition at Parkview starting Feb. 17. On both Feb. 17 and 25, the GCUSBC will have bowling shifts for the tournament beginning at noon and 4 p.m. Registration forms are available at all Citrus County bowling centers.
