Motorcyclist hurt in crash with truck

A 45-year-old Tarpon Springs man was critically injured Tuesday night when his customized motorcycle crashed into a truck turning left, authorities said. Timothy C. Frey was in critical condition Wednesday at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Frey was heading north on Alt. U.S. 19 when a southbound GMC truck began to turn onto Alderman Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The Big Dog motorcycle Frey was riding hit the right front of the truck, which was driven by Bryce T. Yamada, 47, authorities said. Frey, who lives in the 900 block of Sunrise Drive in Tarpon Springs, was not wearing a helmet, according to authorities. Yamada, who lives in the 2200 block of Portofino Place in Palm Harbor, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, authorities said. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday.
