It is important to be aware of the mental images you are using when you play. Golf is a contemplative sport, as opposed to a reactive sport. What influences your shots before hitting is paramount. Intense competition requires proper imaging.
This is much more than positive thinking. I catch myself trying not to hit a bad shot. Even when I am successful, I am not being positive.
A good friend of mine who is a multiple winner on the PGA Tour told me that the difference between a tour player and other golfers is that the tour player always thinks he can hit the shot. Do you?
