Arts league offers scholarships to area students

ARTS LEAGUE OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO AREA STUDENTS

The Brandon League of Fine Arts offers scholarships for area high school seniors active in two- and three-dimensional fine arts. Students must live in eastern Hillsborough County and have a 2.5 or higher grade-point average. Chamber of commerce hosts hog roast

The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce hosts its seventh annual hog roast and silent auction from April 21 at Lupton's Boggy Bottom Ranch, 8407 Lupton Place, Plant City. In addition to barbecue and beer, guests will also enjoy Neon Moon's live country music performance. Food, beer and entertainment are all included in the $20 entrance fee. Children under 12 are admitted free.

RUSKIN

Annual golf tourney is set for March 10

The seventh annual Doug Walker Memorial Golf Tournament will be held March 10 at Ruskin's Cypress Creek Golf Course, 1011 Cypress Village Blvd. The entry fee is $70 and includes an 11:15 a.m. lunch. All proceeds benefit the Doug Walker Scholarship Fund. For more information, call 727-517-2829.

TAMPA

Horse shows planned for State Fair

Horse lovers won't want to miss the shows and competitions held during the 2007 Florida State Fair. At tomorrow's miniature horse show, youth and adult showmen will compete in obstacle diving and jumping. The show begins at 10 a.m.

Clydesdales, Belgians and Shires will show in halter and hitch classes at noon Monday. The mounted law enforcement training and critiques will be presented at 9 a.m. Tuesday, and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Law enforcement officers will showcase their roles and abilities in obstacle training, catching fleeing suspects, and crowd control techniques. All events are free with fair admission.
