Open houses set on adding classrooms

Hillsborough County school officials will host a series of open houses to discuss the addition of classrooms. In eastern Hillsborough County, 25 schools will be affected by the construction projects.

One meeting involving additions to Armwood High and Burnett Middle schools was held this week in Seffner.

- Upcoming meetings are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Newsome High School, 16550 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia. The affected schools are Newsome (24 classrooms), FishHawk Creek Elementary (10 classrooms), Bevis Elementary (12 classrooms), Nelson Elementary (16 classrooms), Walden Lake Elementary (16 classrooms) and Randall Middle (10 classrooms).

- Another meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bloomingdale High School, 1700 E Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. The affected schools that will be addressed that evening are Bloomingdale High (12 classrooms); Alafia and Buckhorn Elementary schools and Mulrennan Middle School (10 classrooms each); and Mintz, Nelson and Walden Lake elementary schools (16 classrooms each).

- On Feb. 20, the final open house in the area takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riverview High School, 11311 Boyette Road. Discussion will focus on these proposed school additions: Riverview High School (24 classrooms), Collins and Corr elementary schools (14 classrooms each), Cypress Creek and Frost Elementary school and Giunta and Shields Middle schools (16 classrooms each), East Bay High and Summerfield Elementary (12 classrooms), and Eisenhower Middle School (10 classrooms).
