Sure, there are football recruiting and girls basketball playoffs and boys basketball district tournaments to follow.

But don't forget to keep an eye on softball.

The top two teams in the county last season each notched huge victories this week over state-ranked teams.

On Tuesday, Springstead knocked off a Zephyrhills team that last year advanced to the cusp of the state final four before being knocked out in the region quarterfinals.

Then, on Wednesday, Hernando beat defending state champion Bartow 1-0 on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Lewie in the top of the seventh that scored Katelyn Vanderham.

Vanderham and Ari Lowman combined for the shutout. Vanderham also went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Springstead upset Hernando last year in the district tournament.
