Citrus County Genealogical Society: A three-hour online genealogy research workshop and demonstration starts at 10 a.m., Boys and Girls Club of Crystal River, 405 SE Seventh Ave., Crystal River. The speaker will be Debbe Hagner, accredited genealogist. Bring brown bag lunch; coffee, bottled water and cookies provided. Members $12, nonmembers $16. Call 382-5515.

Portrayal: Ersula Knox Odom, essayist, workshop leader, motivational speaker, prize winning life lyricist and author of At Sula's Feet, will give a Chautauqua portrayal of Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955), an African American teacher considered one of the great educators of the United States. The presentation is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in the community room of Coastal Region Library, 8619 W Crystal St., Crystal River.
