The fourth annual San Gennaro Festa, which honors the patron saint of Naples, Italy, moves from Safety Harbor to Coachman Park overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway this weekend. The two-day event celebrates Italian heritage and culture by featuring traditional Italian artisans, live music and, of course, food. Attendees can stomp grapes, play bocci ball and enter cannoli- and meatball-eating contests. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The headline act both nights is Sonny Geraci and the Outsiders. Other performers include John and Mary K. Wilson, the Tarantella Dancers and Dino Diliberti. Admission is $3, and proceeds benefit cancer research, All Children's Hospital, local schools and scholarships.

For pups, let the good times roll

Dress your "party animal" in Mardi Gras attire for the sixth annual Dunedin Mardi Party for Pups Festival from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Pioneer Park, located at Main Street and Douglas Avenue. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Later, enjoy a free, fun-filled day with your dog at the Pinellas Animal Foundation's fifth annual Bowser Games from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Highlander Park, 1920 Pinehurst Road. Dogs run the agility or disk course or can compete in contests for best costume, most impressive tricks, longest tail and most slobbery pet. Call (727) 710-7387 or visit www.pinellasanimal foundation.org.

Injured boyfriend in fair condition

A man who authorities say was shot by his girlfriend during a fight Thursday was in fair condition Friday. John T. Brown and Stephanie Rose Chiavarelli share an apartment in the 2800 block of Thaxton Drive, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Brown, 27, came home Thursday afternoon and took a shower. Chiavarelli, 27, allegedly went through his clothes and found what she thought was another woman's telephone number, sheriff's officials said. Around 4:50 p.m., the couple got into a fight and Brown tried to leave the room. Chiavarelli got a small-caliber handgun from under a mattress and shot him once in the upper left shoulder, authorities said. He was flown to Bayfront Medical Center. Chiavarelli called for help, stayed at the scene, and was arrested at 10:30 p.m. on a count of attempted murder. Chiavarelli remained at the Pinellas County Jail Friday without bail.

2nd pedestrian hit on sidewalk dies

A Palm Harbor woman injured last month when a car drove onto a sidewalk has died at Tampa General Hospital. Lillian Wright, 79, died Thursday, according to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office. Her husband, Donald Wright, 82, was in critical condition at the hospital Friday. A third pedestrian, Amelia McBride, 92, died on Jan. 23, the day of the accident. The three were hit as Sandra K. Burns, 69, of Trinity was trying to leave the Tarpon Plaza shopping center at 780 S Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs police said. Burns backed up and veered onto a sidewalk outside the Hospice Thrift Shop. An investigation is continuing.
