Transfer station will change its business hours

The Hernando County Utilities Department/Solid Waste and Recycling Division has announced that the West Hernando Transfer Station, 2525 Osowaw Blvd., will change business hours to coincide with the East Hernando Transfer Station, 33070 Cortez Blvd. in Ridge Manor. Starting March 4, both facilities will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Both will be closed Sundays and Mondays. For information, call Ron Pearson at 754-4112, ext. 119. Vendors sought for heritage festival Vendor spaces are still available for the annual Heritage Day Festival that will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Hernando Heritage Museum, 601 Museum Court. The cost is $30 for a 12-by-12-foot space. Judging will be done in the morning, and ribbons will be awarded at noon. The event will include a variety of activities, demonstrations and entertainment and tours of the museum. For information, call 799-0129. Golfers, sponsors can sign up now Sponsorships and participant registration are now being accepted for the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Youth Education Services 21st annual Scramblers Golf Tournament, which will be March 10 at Brooksville Golf and Country Club at Majestic Oaks, 23446 Links Drive (off Croom Road). Hole sponsorships are $50. The cost to enter the tournament is $75 per player, which includes a hot buffet lunch and a video golf lesson. All proceeds will benefit YES, which is a nonprofit organization formed to develop programs for youth.
