BROOKSVILLE Deputy to reimburse office for commute A Hernando sheriff's deputy who was using his patrol car to commute between Tampa and Brooksville will have to reimburse the department $2,000 for gas. An internal affairs investigation by the Sheriff's Office found that Deputy Joseph Parlapiano had been commuting for about a year, even though it was against the department's policy. In addition to the gas money, he will be required to move to Hernando or one of its surrounding counties by July 1 or lose his job. BROOKSVILLE Five arrested during raids on three homes The Sheriff's Office raided three houses on Peach Street on Friday afternoon, arresting five men on assorted drug charges and seizing $60,000. At 813 Peach St., Scottie Jones, 22, was charged with possession of cocaine and Wallace Mcrae, 22, with violation of probation. At 816 Peach St., Herbert Stanley, 47, was charged with possession of marijuana. And at 820 Peach St., Naeem Johnson, 19, and Lamont Gaynor, 18, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. In total, the Sheriff's Office seized about 600 grams of marijuana and a little more than a gram of cocaine. NEW PORT RICHEY Woman charged with elder abuse An instructor at Pasco-Hernando Community College is accused of beating her 73-year-old husband with a stuffed animal. Caren Garrity, 47, of 5300 Wellfield Road, New Port Richey, was arrested Sunday evening and charged with domestic elder abuse. She was held without bail Monday afternoon at the Land O'Lakes jail. According to a sheriff's incident report, the husband has Lou Gehrig's disease and is under hospice care. The report does not say what caused the incident, only that Garrity slapped him, hit him with the stuffed animal and tried to drag him from the bed. The husband called for help by triggering his bedside medical alarm.

1 Pound = 453.60 Grams.
600 divide by 453.60 = 1.3 Pounds and this is suspect.
$60,000 can this figure truly be verified? Cost to the Tax payers at a $20.00 hourly rate for 4 hours time 50 = approximately $4000 not including other costs.
