Clyde Beatty Circus cancels weekend shows

So much for the old saying "The show must go on." The Clyde Beatty Circus announced Monday that the Pinellas Park dates have been canceled. The circus was to have presented seven performances during the coming weekend. Citing logistical problems with moving and erecting the tent, a company spokesman said that they are extremely disappointed and apologize for the inconvenience.

Touch-A-Truck event now set for Feb. 24

The third annual City of St. Pete Beach Touch-A-Truck event has been rescheduled for Feb. 24 after being rained out last weekend.

Trucks of all shapes and sizes will be on hand. Kids are invited to climb into the driver's seat of police cars, firetrucks and more. The event starts at 10 a.m. Feb. 24 in the parking lot of St. Pete Beach City Hall, 155 Corey Ave. Information: Mary-Jo Golliner at 363-2146.

Battle of the Minds is Saturday

Test your wits against other trivia buffs at the fifth annual Battle of the Minds, an Evening in Tuscany, a Saturday fundraiser for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. The 6 p.m. event includes cocktails, dinner, and live and silent auctions at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon Park, 950 Lake Carillon Drive. Tickets cost $125. Call 821-1200, ext. 114.
