Pinellas County Emergency Management Director Gary Vickers is in the hospital in critical condition after suffering multiple broken bones in a car crash Tuesday night. Vickers, 53, is expected to recover fully, officials said Wednesday. Vickers is well-known to many residents as the county’s chief spokesman during emergencies such as hurricanes. Vickers was driving north on a rain-slicked Countryside Boulevard shortly before 10:30 p.m., according to Clearwater police. Just south of State Road 580, Vickers apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

I believe we were told that he was traveling N bound, which he probably was, but I do believe he was in the S. bound lanes @ the time. Being in insulin shock, he was totally disoriented & was probably blacked out at the time of the crash

It does not mention that the car was in the westbound lanes but was heading east. Mr Vickers car was clearly driving on the wrong side of countryside blvd as I was a witness.
