Girl Scout cookie sales start Sunday
Girl Scouts of the Spring Mermaids Service Unit are launching the annual cookie sale. Starting Sunday, troops will be selling cookies at various locations throughout Spring Hill and Brooksville. Booths will be set up from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through March 11 at the following locations: Publix and Winn-Dixie stores, Sam's Club, Lowe's, Movie Gallery, Nellie's Restaurant, George's Appliances and Wal-Mart Supercenters. Black history event slated for Feb. 24
A black history celebration will begin at noon Feb. 24 at the Jerome Brown Community Center, 99 Jerome Brown Place, off Darby Lane. The speaker will be Ronnie McLean of UFL Prevention Center, who will speak on "Black Wall Street - A Moment in Time." The celebration will also include a showcase provided by Mable Sims. Karate 4 Kids available Mondays
The city of Brooksville Recreation Department offers Karate 4 Kids for children ages 4 to 15 at the Jerome Brown Community Center, 99 Jerome Brown Place. The instructors include grand master Jay Blanton and Robert Blanton. Classes are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays. The cost is $25 per month, per child. The first lesson is free.
