SEFFNER - The Crusaders controlled the offense and played aggressive defense Thursday to defeat Kissimmee's Southland Christian 53-36 in regional quarterfinal action. Seffner Christian was 22-of-31 from the floor and took advantage of a Flames team that seemed to tire early. "(The Flames) got a little tired out there," Seffner coach Roger Duncan said. "We shot well and got back on defense." The Crusaders pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Southland 19-8 with senior David Frueh and freshman Devin Paularinne each scoring six in the quarter. Frueh led the Crusaders with 22, but Duncan said the play of Paularinne and junior Mark Sentovich was key. "(Paularinne and Sentovich) were big lifts off of the bench." Duncan said. "Both of them played good offense and came up with some rebounds." The Crusaders' offense ran a majority of their offense through senior Sam Moorer. Moorer scored only two points, but Duncan focused on the leadership he gave the team. "Sam is the epitome of a team player who has an all-around game," Duncan said.
