Weekend brings something for all

There is a mixed bag of entertainment this weekend, with some local events and also some top-name acts just a short drive away. The top local event is the Grand Ole Opry, Citrus County Style, which begins at 7 p.m. today at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High School. The program features local country music acts and is a fundraiser for Homosassa Elementary School. Tickets at the door are $10 and the box office opens at 4 p.m. And a short drive away: - Singer/songwriter Livingston Taylor will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Pasco-Hernando Community College Performing Arts Center, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey. Tickets are $18 to $25 and available online at www.phcc.edu/tix or by phone at (727) 816-3707 (limited hours) or at the box office one hour before the show. - The Hernando Symphony Orchestra will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Springstead Theater, Spring Hill, and at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Hernando High School Performing Arts Center, Brooksville. Tickets are $10. For information, call 597-9555. - The Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, Spring Hill, presents comedian Jackie Mason at 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tickets for the dinner show are $42.50, plus tax. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner served at 6:30. Show is at 8. Call 688-3390.
