Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores

This Congress should be prepared to do whatever has to be done to eliminate the terrorist threat.

I don't care whether it is in Iraq, whether it is in Afghanistan, whether it is in Somalia, whether it is in Mogadishu - wherever it is, we have got to protect Americans from the threat of terrorism and from terrorist attacks.

Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor

The time has come for all members of Congress to put aside partisan feelings and work together, along with the president, to craft a strategy for Iraq that achieves the following: moves Iraq closer to a peaceful and stable democracy; improves America's security; ensures the utmost safety and best equipment for our soldiers; and provides the shortest feasible time frame for their return to their families.

Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Longboat Key

As someone who enlisted at the age of 18 and spent six years as a member of the Air National Guard, I can tell you firsthand that this resolution would undermine our troops' morale and diminish their ability to accomplish their mission. Passage of this resolution is also a dangerous first step toward cutting off funding for our troops. And that is something that I cannot support.

A question of morale, partisanship

The "Democrats" opposing President Bush, the war, our troops and our security are not Democrats that I grew up with. I am now a Republican because I couldn't stomach the despicable, anti-US "Democratic" mentality that has so sickened this nation!

As one G.I. said, "America is not at war it's at the mall, the Army and Marines are at war." Members of the House not supporting the resolution should be ashamed!

If the war in Iraq is so crucial to the security of the United States please tell me what personal sacrifices each and every member of the Congress, opposing the resolution with such flowery language, have made in behalf of winning it? VERY VERY FEW
