In local youth football circles, the rivalry between the Clearwater Junior Tornadoes and the Countryside Junior Cougars is well-established and fierce. But supporters of both programs have found that candy sales alone can no longer pay for equipment and facility improvements. So now the rivals are coming together for a fundraiser to help both programs. Organizers are looking for sponsors and players for the "Backyard Brawl" golf tournament, scheduled for 1 p.m. June 2 at the Eagles Golf Club. The cost is $75 per player or $300 a team, and includes golf, three drink tickets and a barbecue dinner. The deadline to sign up is May 9. Hole sponsorships are available for $250. Proceeds will help pay for uniforms, tackling dummies and blocking sleds as well as support scholarships for underprivileged children. Call David Collins at (727) 492-7858 or Mike Carrol at (813) 267-7648.
