NEW PORT RICHEY - Jordan Schulman is headed to Lakeland.

The Gulf junior will represent Pasco County on Friday in the first FHSAA 3-Point Showdown final. She advanced after making 6 of 15 shots Saturday at Ocala West Port in the Class 4A region competition. Seniors Kristi Hopper (Mitchell) and Sthefany Thomas (Wesley Chapel) were knocked out.

Schulman's parents shared a friendly wager before the contest to guess how many shots their daughter would make. Her father, Paul, guessed six on the nose. After the win, they headed to Cracker Barrel to celebrate.

"I didn't win anything," he joked. "I won the right pay the bill."

Gulf coach Mike Quarto plans to attend the final Friday at the Lakeland Center. Schulman is set to compete at 6 p.m. If she wins she will be the 4A champ and advance to Saturday's Queen of the Hill competition, which crowns the top shooter among all classifications.
