TRINITY

TEACHER BEING INVESTIGATED IS FOUND DEAD

A Seven Springs Middle School science teacher who was under criminal investigation was found dead about noon Monday in an apparent suicide, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Stephan Brown's body was discovered on the ropes course of the YMCA at 8411 Photonics Drive in Trinity after his wife, Beth Brown, principal of John Long Middle School in Wesley Chapel, reported him missing Friday, said sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll. He would not comment on the nature of the investigation. Grief counselors will be at Seven Springs Middle School today. "I am deeply saddened by this loss," school superintendent Heather Fiorentino said in a statement. Brown began working in Pasco County schools in 1993.

WESLEY CHAPEL

Thrift shop hearing to be held later

A hearing on a proposed Salvation Army thrift store on State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel has been delayed until March 15 in New Port Richey. Pasco County's Development Review Committee had been scheduled to consider the charity's plan Thursday. The project has triggered neighborhood complaints that the store would not fit the area. Followup technical questions from the county and feedback from a community meeting last week led to the delay, said Cindy Jolly, Pasco development review manager.

COUNTYWIDE

Candidates planning to run in the April 10 municipal elections are invited to a workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Pasco County School District offices, Training Room A, Building 3, 7227 Land O'Lakes Blvd. in Land O'Lakes. Campaign treasurers and volunteers are also urged to attend this workshop on campaign finance and election law. For information call Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley's office toll-free at 1-800-851-8754.

Corrections

-Friday is the only weekday that the Pasco County Fair will open its food court for lunch (from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) before the main gates open at 3 p.m. Also, gates on Saturday open at 10 a.m., though the hog show opens at 8 a.m. A story Saturday omitted the food court day and was incorrect on the time the main gates open on Saturday.

-Becky Moyer of West Virginia came to help prepare a Habitat for Humanity house in Dade City. Her first name was incorrect in a story Monday.
