PLANT CITY - Two eastern Hillsborough County women were arrested Wednesday evening on charges of child neglect after they brought their children with them on an errand.

But this was no regular errand. The women were trying to pull off a drug deal, sheriff's deputies said.

Susan R. Machado, 31, and Amanda Diane Bronson, 25, were arrested by an undercover detective before they could finish a deal to buy $70 worth of marijuana, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Machado, 1505 N Maryland Ave., Plant City, has two children and Bronson, 3708 Lindsey St., Dover, has one child.

The women called the detective to arrange the deal. They met the detective in the 7300 block of W Knights Griffin Road in Plant City at 7:20 p.m. in a car with the three children, Carter said.

Machado was charged with two counts of child neglect and released on $15,000 bond. Bronson was charged with one count and released on $7,500 bond.

The women were not charged with trying to buy marijuana because deputies arrested them before they completed the deal, Carter said.
