A 42-year-old Tampa woman died Thursday after she jumped from the Sunshine Skyway bridge, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Sometime before 2:15 p.m., Wendy Kay Waldron pulled her 2001 Mitsubishi over along the inside shoulder of the northbound side of the bridge. She got out, ran to the east side of the bridge and jumped over.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue recovered her body.

Always loved to look at headlines. Could she have died BEFORE junping from Skyway? Very sad situation - people like this need our concern, not murderers and criminals.

I live two buildings down from where Wendy reside with her significant other. They both were very delightful people. My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends at this time!!

She was a dear friend. I wish she could've understood that there is ALWAYS HOPE no matter what this life throws your way. She would have stopped a moving train to help any one of us.

That poor woman, how awful. She must have thought she had no other way out; I've felt that way a lot of times, kind of makes you wonder what she was thinking on the way down, if it was a mistake, it's too late to do over.
