TAMPA - Freshman Steven Bell, who won state titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters last year at Land O'Lakes, will not compete in track at USF this spring due to academic issues. Bell, who competed for USF last fall in cross country, is enrolled in classes this spring, though he has been taken off the Bulls' roster on the school's official site. Kris Keppel, Bell's coach at Land O'Lakes, said Bell was on "academic probation" but had hoped to return to the team after improving his grades. Bell and USF coach Warren Bye did not return calls Thursday. Weblog Have a question for one of our prep writers? Want to sound off in response to one of our county-by-county writers' blogs?
