TAMPA — Looking to add blue-line depth before Tuesday’s NHL trade deadline, the Lightning acquired defenseman Shane O’Brien from Anaheim on Saturday.

It came at a price. Tampa Bay sent highly-regarded goaltender Gerald Coleman and its 2007 first-round pick in exchange for O’Brien and the Ducks’ third-round selection this season.

In his first season with the Ducks, O’Brien, 23, had two goals and 12 assists for the Pacific Division leaders while averaging 14:03 a game.

O’Brien will also add toughness to a Lightning team that needs it. He was the Ducks’ leader in penalty minutes with 140.

Coleman, 21, won six of his first nine starts at the Lightning’s ECHL team in Johnstown.
