Vikings player gets offer from Georgia

Northeast's Javontae Boyd, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound tight end/defensive lineman, got an offer from Georgia, coach Jay Austin said Friday.

Boyd, who will be a four-year starter next season, is projected to be a defensive tackle in college.

"That's big for us," Austin said. "(Georgia) liked his size and his attitude. They thought he had what it takes to play in the SEC."

Boyd is one of many Viking prospects recruiters will be looking at this spring. Duke and Stanford are interested in quarterback/linebacker Armando Sanchez.

Boyd, Sanchez and running back Jeff Brinson each have an offer from Illinois State.
