Library to show flim 'Return to me' on Tuesday

The Hernando County Public Library System will show the film Return To Me at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Road.

The film is rated PG and stars David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. It is a romantic comedy drama about a man who, while mourning the death of his wife from a car accident, falls in love with a woman who received his wife's heart in a heart transplant.

There is no cost to attend and no registration is required.

Come play cards, have lunch at temple

Spring Hill Hadassah will host its annual Mah-Jongg Card Game Luncheon at noon March 12 at Temple Beth David, 13158 Antelope St.

After a catered lunch, attendees can play mah-jong, cards or other games, or just socialize. There will be door prizes and other prizes will be awarded.

Jazz Society, middle school band to play

The Hudson Middle School Jazz Band will be featured at the Hernando Jazz Society's next program, which will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 11 at SNPJ Hall, 13383 County Line Road.

Following the school band will be the Hernando Jazz Society musicians playing big band era music.

Admission is free for Jazz Society members, $7 for nonmembers. Light refreshments will be available. Attendees can bring their own beverages. For information, call Frank Domick at 666-4842.

Rotary to hold open house at restaurant

The Rotary Club of Spring Hill Central will host an open house from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 29 at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant, 12070 Cortez Blvd.

There will be a social hour followed by a brief program and introduction of new members.

Space is limited and early reservations are advised. Those interested in attending, or those interested in joining the Rotary Club of Spring Hill Central, can call Maureen at 650-9006 or Marlene at 650-4521.

The club meets at noon Thursdays at the Wellington Clubhouse, 400 Wexford Blvd.


Celebrate Tomas Masaryk's birthday

The Masaryktown community will celebrate the annual Tomas Masaryk Birthday Day Dinner and Dance on March 11 at the Masaryktown Community Center, 539 Lincoln Ave.

A marinated baked chicken meal will be served, starting at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children younger than 12.

Following dinner, Mario DeLeon will provide music for dancing and vocal duet Steve & Malia will entertain.

Sign up to be a post service officer

The Hernando County Veterans Service Department will conduct weekly training programs for post service officers from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesdays, starting March 21, at the Veterans Service Office in the Airport Industrial Park, 16110 Aviation Loop Drive, south of Brooksville.

The training is open to all interested post service officers. The training will include a variety of topics such as the latest information on the submission of benefits claims, federal law changes and Veteran Affairs news releases.
