FSU women hoping for confidence boost from regular season
Lady Noles get ready for ACC Tournament

For Florida State coach Sue Semrau, the challenge of the ACC women's tournament - and the rest of the postseason to come - is to somehow bottle her team's first-half showings against powerhouses such as Georgia, Duke and Maryland.
The No. 5-seeded Seminoles 21-8, who open play against No. 12 Wake Forest (9-19), a team they routed in the regular-season finale on Sunday, led Georgia and Maryland at halftime and trailed the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Blue Devils by only 1 with 2:32 left in the first half but lost all three.
"I'm out shopping right now (for that formula)," Semrau quipped.
Actually, the key is more mental than physical.
"We just have to learn how to finish a game and play 40 minutes," junior guard Shante Williams, who has been hampered by a left hip injury but expects to play today. "I feel we can compete with any team in the nation."
The Seminoles are young. Guard Alicia Gladden, a third-team All-ACC pick, is the lone senior and Williams, whose injury kept her out of Sunday's game, and backup center Nikki Anthony are the next most veteran players.
Show me the money
FSU's new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jimbo Fisher not only has a base salary of $215,000, but will receive $210,000 from the Athletic Development Fund each year. He has a three-year deal. New offensive line coach Rick Trickett also will see a boost from that fund, $100,000 annually, to go along with his $200,000 base for three years.
