TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery will launch a new game where it will give away $250,000 and seven new vehicles once a week for six weeks. Hoping to match the success of the Holiday Millionaire Raffle, the Florida Lottery will begin selling Cars & Cash tickets Monday for $5 each. Starting March 11, eight winners will be selected every Sunday at 8 p.m. One winner will get $250,000 and the other seven winners will choose a Ford Mustang convertible, a Ford F150 pickup truck or a Ford Escape Hybrid sport utility vehicle. Vehicle winners also can take a cash option of $30,500. Tickets for the Holiday Millionaire Raffle sold for $20 each and were limited to 1.25-million. They sold out in less than two weeks. Winning numbers were drawn for 10 $1-million prizes, 20 $100,000 prizes and 100 $10,000 prizes. Island for sale. Asking price: $8.95-million FORT MYERS - For about $9-million, interested buyers can now pick up their own island. The 9.3-acre island in the Caloosahatchee River is near Fort Myers and costs $8.95-million. Tom Cronin Sr. bought the island in 1997 and planned to build a resort on it, but sold the property for $1.63-million to a Naples real estate company in 2004. Frank DAlessandro of Gates DAlessandro Woodyard LLC said the island has approval for stores and restaurants. It also has approval for a hotel or about 80 condo units.
