Donate blood for tornado victims

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers reports an emergency need for blood donors in Florida to help supply LifeSouth's centers in Alabama communities that were affected by Thursday's tornados. The center is in emergency need of O-negative, O-positive, A-negative and A-positive blood donors. Blood donors must be at least 17, weigh 110 pounds or more and show a photo identification. You can donate at one of these locations:

-The Inverness office, 220 S Pine St. at Highlands Boulevard: Open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 344-5332.

-The Lecanto office, 1241 S Lecanto Highway: Open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday; 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 527-3061.

COUNTYWIDE

Chorale offers music scholarship

The Sugarmill Chorale is offering a vocal music scholarship to a Citrus County high school graduating senior who plans to continue studies leading to a career in some aspect of vocal music. To be eligible for the award, worth up to $1,000, a student must be a resident of Citrus County, a graduate of a Citrus County high school or home school equivalent, or a Citrus County resident currently enrolled in Central Florida Community College, Citrus County campus. He/she must have been accepted by or enrolled in an accredited college or music conservatory or studying with a recognized voice teacher and be planning a career in vocal music, either as a performer, teacher, music therapist or other recognized field. Applicants will be required to attend an audition at which they will be asked to perform one vocal selection of their choice. Application deadline is April 10. For information, call 382-3498.
