Fundraiser will let you roast celebs

SPRING HILL

A fundraiser for the Enrichment Centers of Hernando County is planned for 5 p.m. April 21 at SNPJ Hall, 13383 County Line Road.

The event will include a "roast," silent auction, dinner and entertainment.

Local celebrities to be roasted include former School Board member John Druzbick, Sheriff Richard Nugent and Oak Hill Hospital chief executive Mickey Smith.

Donations of items are needed for the silent auction, especially items with a perceived value of more than $200.

Tickets to the event are $35 per person. Reservations are required by March 20.

BROOKSVILLE

Care workers can renew credentials

Pasco-Hernando Community College will offer a childhood development associate renewal course from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, March 15 through May 3, at the North Campus, 11415 Ponce de Leon Blvd.

This 45-hour course, required for child care workers, reaffirms competencies and renews credentials for early care and early childhood education workers. Completion keeps workers current through 2012.

Topics include rules, regulations and legislation that relates to the early child care profession.

Students will write observations, lesson plans and individual activities, as well as review school readiness standards.
