IMMOKALEE - Four people were killed and six injured early Sunday when a suspicious fire raced through a crowded trailer in this rural southwest Florida community, authorities said.

Collier County sheriff's detectives and the state Fire Marshal's Office called the fire arson, but declined to release additional details, sheriff's spokeswoman Kristin Adams said.

Flames were already coming out of the trailer when emergency responders arrived at Cleve's Trailer Park at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

"They tried to do what they could, but it was too much," Adams said. "Six people managed to get out, but four were trapped in the trailer."

Adams declined to release more details about the investigation.

The extent of the injuries of the survivors was unclear, Adams said. The three most seriously injured were taken to a local trauma center. Doctors were considering sending at least one person to a burn center in Tampa, about 150 miles north, Adams said.

Investigators were still trying to identify the dead and injured Sunday night .
