It's midseason; cue the bridezillas
David E. Kelley has created some really compelling television - and some real clunkers. His newest sally premieres Friday night at 9 on Fox: The Wedding Bells, about a trio of sisters (played by KaDee Strickland,Teri Polo and Sarah Jones) who run a wedding planning business. Could be promising - after all, Kelley's trademarks are eye candy and bizarre behavior, and what has more of both than a wedding?
Time to do the Tallahassee tango
The Florida Legislature gets to work Tuesday, and not a minute too soon. Despite that special session, the insurance thing doesn't seem to be quite resolved to everyone's satisfaction. And then there's the education thing, and the property tax thing, and, well, we're amazed anybody runs for these jobs.
They forgot what 'I forgot' means
Deliberations in the Scooter Libby trial pick up again today after jurors requested an early break on Friday, presumably to go home and look something up after the judge denied their request for a dictionary.
The masters speak of science fiction
Frederik Pohl (Jem) and Harry Harrison (the Stainless Steel Rat series) are among the godfathers of science fiction, and Rusty Hevelin is one of the founders of its devoted (to say the least) fandom. All three will convene for a panel at 7 p.m. Wednesday to talk about The Golden Age of Science Fiction. It's free, at Traditions Hall in the Alumni Center at USF's Tampa campus.
Have some cake, comeback kids
Three women who have bounced back, one way or another, celebrate birthdays this week. Today, former supermodel Niki Taylor, left, who recovered from a horrific car wreck, is 32. On Thursday, actor and breast cancer survivor Lynn Redgrave will be 64. And on Sunday, Gale Norton, who resigned as U.S. Secretary of the Interior last year and managed to pick up a job as general counsel to Shell Oil in February, will be 53.
