GIBSONTON - Deputies arrested a 49-year-old Gibsonton man Monday, accusing him of sexually abusing a Ruskin girl for 12 years.

Michael Noriega, 49, of 6109 Nundy Ave. was arrested at 6:20 a.m. on charges of sexual battery on a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation, deputies said.

Deputies said the abuse began when the girl was 5 and continued until she was 17, from July 1992 to June 2005.

The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office learned of the allegations after the girl told her mother in November 2006, said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

According to jail records, Noriega is disabled and unemployed.

He was held without bail at the Orient Road Jail.
