"It's not over yet. This is only the first part. We've still got the second part. If you want to be excited about it, okay ... but not yet, not for us." -- Mark Lunsford, Jessica's father

"He took Jessie from us. I want death. I don't think that's selfish." -- Angela Bryant, Jessica's mother

"We saw our justice system at work today as John Couey was convicted for his heinous crimes against one of Florida's children. This verdict is one step closer to justice for Jessica Lunsford and so many others who were taken too early in their lives." -- Gov. Charlie Crist

"Americans must remember that John Couey is only one of thousands of sexual predators around the nation. It is very sad, but parents in every neighborhood and community should remain vigilant in protecting their children from strangers." -- Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville

"Folks, use your common sense." -- Pete Magrino, prosecutor, during closing arguments Wednesday

What is this abomination that inflicts humanity? Why are men (and some women) compelled to commit such acts of violence against our children? Our focus tends to be on the lynching. Once over, all is forgotten until the next time. What's wrong?

When you thinkof broken hearted parents think of the grandparents.I have grandaughters same age as Jessica and I worry all the time. Just as car accidents usually happen few blocks from your home. An abduction can happen at the end of your driveway.

Life is the only answer. The State bares some responsibility for a man who repeatedly asked for help-years ago. This horror would have been forseen had the State given any time to help a challenged man who knew enough to beg for help.

I say give him life. That way, we aren't spending quite as much to put him on death row while he appeals and then the general population prison can do with him what they do to child molesters-kill him.

Any person who takes our childrens lifes or exploits them sexually should not be allowed to walk this Earth. The ONLY justice is to Take John Couey's life so no other child shall suffer by his hand again. He is not fit to be among the Human Race.
