Sen. Nancy Argenziano will interview for PSC

TALLAHASSEE - She's back on the list.

Sen. Nancy Argenziano, R-Dunnellon, will interview Friday for one of the two vacancies on the Public Service Commission.

A nominating council had selected 19 people to be interviewed last month. Argenziano did not originally make that list, despite letters of recommendation written by her Senate colleagues. She needed five votes to make the cut, and she only had four.

It seems there was a misunderstanding. Her colleague, Sen. Mike Bennett - the council chair and the only senator on the council - said his hand-raise vote was misrecorded. The public record says he didn't vote for her. The Bradenton Republican says he did. The meetings are not videotaped, but they are voice recorded.

Bennett said on Wednesday he probably raised his hand halfway, and it wasn't seen and recorded. He insisted Argenziano had the votes to make the cut.

To be fair, the council has invited all nominees who received four votes in the original council meeting to interview, which means six more people qualified to interview with the nomination council.

Argenziano said she waffled a bit as to whether or not to go through with the interview on Friday, but she ultimately decided to go ahead and try, given her commitment to consumers.

"Truthfully, I believe the people in this state have no trust in the Public Service Commission," Argenziano said.

I worry about people who have an obsession ,it is usually not healthy! Why is the Senator obsessed with the PSC? Or does she think that she knows what is best for all of us and we can not think and analyze for our selves?

The PSC has done right by me , with the Aloha issue. Also our residential utility rates are very low in comparision to other areas of the country. I do not understand what the problem is with the PSC ! Help me out here!

This is a sad situation! Sen. Argenziano speaks badly of the PSC but wants to serve on the Commission. She would be great for retail and industrial consumers and bad for residential consumers. She is honestly out of her league and does not know .
