High color, low maintenance: Master Gardener Pat O'Shea will tell you how to get the most color with the least effort Monday at 7 p.m. at the Lutz Branch Library, 101 Lutz-Lake Fern Road.

Perennials: Learn how to grow perennials Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library, 2902 W Bearss Ave.

Wildflowers: Find out how to identify wildflowers Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Austin Davis Public Library, 17808 Wayne Road.

Orchid auction: The Tampa Orchid Club, celebrating 50 years in orchid culture, will host a St. Patrick's Day Orchid Auction on Saturday, March 17, at the University of South Florida Botanical Gardens off Fowler Avenue (corner of Pine and Alumni Drives). Preview starts at 10:30 a.m. with auction of more than 250 orchids under way at 11 a.m. Well-known orchid judge and auctioneer Bill Thoms will conducts the event. Refreshments and orchid supplies are available for purchase. No credit cards are accepted, so bring cash or check. Proceeds benefit the USF Botanical Gardens and the Tampa Orchid Club.
