Iowa offers Packers' QB
By JOE SMITH
Published March 10, 2007
Largo junior quarterback Leonard Johnson received a scholarship offer from Iowa, Packers coach Rick Rodriguez said Friday. Johnson, three-year starter, rushed for 780 yards and passed for 970 last season 13 TDs, leading the Packers to a district title and the region semifinals. The 5-foot-11, 182-pounder is getting recruited to play cornerback, Roriguez said. Johnson would not be the first Largo option quarterback to play defensive back for the Hawkeyes. Marcus Paschal, a three-year starting safety at Iowa, is preparing for this spring's NFL draft. Joe Smith can be reached at joesmith@sptimes.com or at (727) 893-8129.
