Warriors turn the tables
Seminole girls, Countryside boys win.

PINELLAS PARK - Last year, the Seminole girls were leading the annual Richard Allen Relays with one event to go. In that final event, the Warriors faltered and vaulted Countryside to the team title by 4.5 points.
Friday night, Seminole had a chance to avenge that disappointing second-place finish.
This time, the Warriors used a late charge, a strong finish and took advantage of a Countryside mistake to win by the same margin they lost by last year.
Seminole won the girls title with 75 points, followed by Countryside (70.5) and St. Petersburg (61).
In the boys, Countryside won its second straight title with 74 points. St. Petersburg was second (67), Largo third (56.5).
"I want to say it's revenge, but it's just nice to beat Countryside by four points since we lost to them by four points," said Warriors coach Leonard Williams.
The Countryside girls led St. Petersburg 24-22 after four events and Seminole 43-39 after seven.
However, the Cougars were dealt a tough early season lesson when their 4 x 200 relay team dropped the baton and was disqualified. Seminole led for the first time with two relays remaining.
In boys, Largo led after four events, Countryside after seven. The Cougars held on to defend their team title.
"It took determination and motivation to perform the way they did," said coach Eileen Givens.
She pointed out her 4 x 400 and 4 x 100 relay teams set personal bests, a good sign for the future.

After being referred to as the basement dwelling track team of Pinellas County last year before finishing with an undefeated season, PCAC title, district title, several advances to states and at least two finishers, CHS deserves some better coverage.
