Court will not hear Hudson man's appeal
The Florida Supreme Court announced late Friday that it will not hear the appeal of Richard Paey, the 48-year-old Hudson man serving a 25-year drug trafficking sentence for illegally obtaining the painkillers he needs. His attorney, John Flannery, said there are only two options left: the pending clemency request before Gov. Charlie Crist, and an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
A 1985 car accident left Paey in a wheelchair with chronic pain, and he was arrested 12 years later for using fake prescriptions to buy more than 1,200 pills.

SEX BATTERY CHARGE: A 30-year-old man faces a capital sexual battery charge for an incident last year involving an 11-year-old girl, according to a report from the Pasco sheriff's office.
The girl told authorities that on Oct. 31, 2006, Tam Hoia Truong tried to rape her at least once at his 5205 State Road 54 home.
Authorities withheld the girl's name and the nature of her relationship with Truong due to the nature of the charges. Truong is being held without bail.
