High schoolers are sought for law internship

HIGH SCHOOLERS ARE SOUGHT FOR LAWINTERNSHIP

The Clearwater Bar Association's summer legal intern program needs high school applicants for seven six-week internships with local judges and law firms. Students must live in Pinellas County and have completed the ninth grade but not yet graduated from high school. The paid internships will run from June 11 to July 20. Intern duties will include copying, summarizing depositions, making deliveries, answering phones and assembling trial notebooks. Students must submit an application, a school transcript, two letters of recommendation and an essay on a topical legal issue by April13. Applicants will be interviewed by a selection committee. Prior to beginning their internships, the interns must attend mandatory orientations on issues such as confidentiality, professionalism, punctuality, attention to detail and appearance. Help for needy petowners

The SPCA Tampa Bay is extending its Spay/Neuter Month until Friday for the first 100 pet owners with limited income. To qualify, applicants must apply in person with a recent tax return Form 1040 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo. DUNEDIN

Aid the search for prehistoric shells

Collect and label fossil shells that are 5- to 20-million years old from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dunedin Nature Center, 1910 Ed Eckert Drive. Prehistoric fossil shells from Florida beaches are used in driveways, pathways, landscaping and for other outdoor uses. Cost is $2 with Dunedin recreation card, $3 without a card. 'Twenty Years of Springs Paintings'

Join landscape artist Margaret Ross Tolbert for a program titled, "Twenty Years of Springs Paintings" at 7p.m. March 22 in the Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. The program is funded by the Florida Humanities Council; admission is free. Tolbert has earned bachelor's and master's of fine arts degrees from the University of Florida.
