DADE CITY - Late Friday afternoon at a Texaco station on the U.S. 98 bypass, the manager and a young male had a disagreement.

According to a police report, the manager pulled a gun and pointed at the youth, Juan C. Resendiz, and the gun went off. Resendiz was shot in the head. He was listed in fair condition Sunday at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa.

The manager, Basel Halabi, 30, of 37967 Hillside Lane, Dade City, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, culpable negligence and improper exhibition of a firearm.

The report by Dade City police Detective Joseph Conrad says Halabi showed the weapon in a careless and threatening manner - not in self-defense.

Halabi was held in lieu of $11,000 bail Sunday at the Land O'Lakes jail.
