Crimson Glories to celebrate Red Hat Day

SPRING HILL CRIMSON GLORIES TO CELEBRATE RED HAT DAY The Wellington Crimson Glories invite all Red Hat ladies and guests to an "Afternoon of Just Red and Purple" to celebrate National Red Hat Day from noon to 3 p.m. April 25 at the Wellington Clubhouse, 400 Wexford Blvd. Lunch will be served and entertainment will be provided by the Hudson Middle School Jazz Band. Spring Plant Sale set for March 30-31 The Spring Hill Garden Club will host its annual Spring Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30-31 at the plant nursery, 1489 Parker Ave. Along with plants for sale, there will be yard sale items and baked goods available for purchase. Tours of the adjacent Nature Coast Botanical Gardens will be provided throughout the sale. The gardens, which includes 18 themed gardens, are open daily during daylight hours. WEEKI WACHEE Eagles Auxiliary 4372 to put on craft fair Eagles Auxiliary 4372 will have a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24 at the Aerie, 8263 Cortez Blvd. Craft vendors are invited to participate. Spaces are available for $15; bring your own table and chair. The auxiliary will be selling baked goods, hot dogs, sodas, coffee and doughnuts. BROOKSVILLE County Fair to include dance contest April 28 A "Blue Jeans and Country Dreams Dance Contest" will be part of the Hernando County Fair and Youth Livestock Show festivities, starting at 1:30 p.m. April 28 in the Alfred A. McKethan Civic Auditorium at the fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. Doors open at 1 p.m. Those interested in entering the contest can enter in one of the following categories: hip-hop/rap, freestyle, country line, country couples or ballroom. Contestants will compete for prizes to be awarded for first, second and third place. The registration fee is $5 per person, with groups limited to eight people. Each category has a limited number of spots available so early registration is advised. Completed applications and entry fees must be received by the fairgrounds office no later than the close of business April 13. A CD containing the music to be used for the performance must accompany the registration form and fee. The Fair Association has the right to approve all music and lyrics before competition day. Competitors without pre-approved music will not be permitted to perform. Registration forms are available at the fair office and at www.hernandocountyfair.com. For information, call 796-4552. HUDSON Polish American club to host dinner dance The Polish American Social Club will host a St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's Dinner Dance on Sunday at the club, 7615 New Jersey Ave. Doors open at 12:15 p.m. The dinner selection is corned beef with cabbage or chicken Parmesan, which will be served from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dancing to the Music Blenders will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The event also will feature a painting exhibition by Poland-born artist Janusz Krept.
