ST. PETERSBURG -- Jennifer Mee went back to school today.

It is the 15-year-old's first day back at Northeast High since she started to hiccup in first-period science class on Jan. 23.

Fellow students cheered and hugged her when she entered the classroom.

Her intractable hiccups stopped on Feb. 28, but she didn't return to school immediately because she was still experiencing intermittent spasms.

Jennifer's mother Rachel Robidoux said her daughter has not had a hiccup since Monday.

The freshman was excited about getting back to her routine and was heard singing "I'm goin' TO school, I'm goin' TO school."

Hiccups are a involuntary spasm of the diaphragm and can be very serious if they persist for extremely long periods of time.

I want to help your daughter to stop her hiccup completely. I know you are concern. But let me ask you how many doctors and medicine you gave her and still not completely stop. I will do anything to get better my child if i have to. I'm a mother of 3

How can she be a faker...some of you folks are acting like this girl is getting rich by doing an interview about HAVING HICCUPS FOR WEEKS WHICH IS NOT NORMAL! Anything is better than hearing about Anna Nicole Smith or bald Brittney.

Hi guys. I am not sure if this will help Jeniffer. When I was a kid, my grandma will chew a fresh garlic and then rub it on my neck everytime I have hiccups and it works for me.Maybe I will suggest she will eat foods with garlic in it.Who knows?

She is such a faker...I saw her on tv...she is desperate for attention.

Some of you have no respect and understanding. I can't believe some of the comments that were made. If you've ever had the hiccups, it's not a good feeling. It can hurt in the chest area. The trips to New York were only a cry for help.

some of you are heartless. She COULDNT stay in school because she disrupted the other students. She couldn't even go to the movies. Think what you couldn't do if you had them over a month. Grow up!

Ronnie Lott cut off part of his finger just to play a football game. She could not go to school because of the hiccups but could go to New York for some interviews. Stop giving this girl attention, her 15 minutes are long gone!

I'm sure it's been said over and over again, but since we were bludgeoned to death with this story I guess I'll say it one more time...WHY IS THIS NEWS!?!...other than the fact she was allowed to miss school for freaking hiccups!
by kahla 03/14/07 01:48 PM
I think it's cool tht Jennifer had the hiccups for 36 days
