Outback tournament moves to April

The Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, the Champions Tour event that has been played in February for 20 years, will move to April, the week after the Masters, in 2008. "April is a perfect time for us," tournament director Amy Hawk said. "Not only are the days longer, which helps with the time required for our pro-am format, but we typically have our maximum 'golf' weather in April. The crowds should respond even more passionately to these changes." Last month's event at the TPC Tampa Bay, won by Tom Watson, was plagued by cold, wind and a morning frost delay that forced the second round to be completed Sunday morning. Hawk expressed concerns Tuesday about network coverage of the event, but those issues were resolved when NBC-TV said it will continue to televise the second and third rounds.
