WEST CITRUS

WAILING SIRENS AT NOON TODAY ARE ONLY A TEST

A reminder: A combined test of the county's new and old emergency siren systems in west Citrus will be at noon today. The old sirens will stop after about 15 seconds; the new ones will continue for a full three minutes, just as they would to alert residents of dangerous weather or an event at the nuclear plant. On March 23, March 30 and April 6, all sirens will sound for 15 to 30 seconds.

FLORAL CITY

Withlapopka Boat Ramp is closed

Recent low water levels have prompted the temporary closing of the Withlapopka Boat Ramp at 10851 Gobbler Drive. The low water conditions make public access unsafe because the water has receded past the end of the ramp. Once water levels increase, the ramp will reopen. Residents using other Citrus County freshwater boat ramps are encouraged to use extra caution while launching and loading their vessels as water levels remain lower than normal throughout the Citrus County lakes system.
